Brian Collie
Chairman of Luxury Retail and Non-Executive Director
Brian Collie was appointed Non-Executive Director of McArthurGlen in 2005. He sits on a number of the Group’s committees and also chairs McArthurGlen Luxury Retail. The Luxury Retail division developed ‘Collezioni’, a stand-alone, full-price luxury fashion concept for airports, which first opened in 2008 at Marco Polo Airport in Venice.
Mr. Collie brings to McArthurGlen the deep and broad perspective of a well-established FTSE 100 plc Director, with over 30 years working as a retailer and manager across three continents. After almost 20 years working in UK retailing, he joined BAA plc in 1992, initially as Retail Director at Gatwick Airport, and was subsequently appointed to the main BAA plc Board in 1997 as Group Retail Director, a position he held until he left BAA in 2005.
His role at BAA, with responsibility for the strategy, finance, development, letting, marketing and management of BAA’s commercial business, gave him a unique window on all aspects of a business with global retail sales in excess of £3 billion and revenue of more than £700 million. Mr. Collie was also responsible for setting up BAA’s international duty-free company, World Duty Free plc, which he also chaired for eight years.
During his time at BAA, Mr. Collie was an industry leader and an active presence in various industry associations. He also joined the Boards of lastminute.com PLC and Jurys Doyle Hotels plc as a Non-Executive Director and was appointed Chairman of lastminute.com plc, in 2004.
